World record 10,000m
Many of the all-time greats in the sport including the “Flying Finn’ Paavo Nurmi, the “Czech Locomotive” Emil Zatopek and Ethiopian legend Haile Gebrselassie have held world records for the gruelling 25-lap distance. The current holder is NN Running Team athlete Kenenisa Bekele, who recorded a stunning 26:17.53 in Brussels 15 years ago. It remains the longest standing world 10,000m record in history.
Joshua Cheptegei
Currently riding high as the most versatile endurance runner on the planet, Joshua has proved a man for all surfaces. After setting a world 15km road record in 2018, last year he romped to World Cross Country and World 10,000m gold medals and also set a world 10km road record. The Ugandan has continued to dazzle in 2020, posting world 5km records on road and track.

In response to Joshua’s outstanding current form, the NN Valencia World Record Day has been organised by the NN Running Team, Global Sports Communication and SD Correcaminos. Held on Wednesday October 7 at the Turia Stadium, Valencia. Joshua, who in August shattered Kenenisa Bekele’s world 5000m record in Monaco, will target the Ethiopian’s 10,000m mark supported by pacemakers and Wavelight technology.
